Welcome YIC2012

Dear Colleague,

YIC2012 is the first European Community on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences (ECCOMAS) Young Investigators Conference. Computational methods in science and technology have been a major topic at a great number of ECCOMAS congresses and conferences. The main goal of the ECCOMAS Young Investigators Conferences, namely the YIC2012, is to periodically bring together young researchers and students working in broad areas of computational science and engineering. The focus of YIC2012 is on the applications of mathematical and computational methods and modelling to different areas of simulation in engineering.

Although YIC2012 is aimed at young scientist (under ~40 years of age), senior scientist are welcome as well. The presence of senior scientist and thesis supervisors can be very fruitful for all participants, including young researchers and PhD students.

YIC2012 will be held at the University of Aveiro, in Portugal, under the auspices of ECCOMAS, from 24 to 27 April, 2012.

We invite you to participate in this conference and to contribute to any topic of your scientific interest within computational science and engineering (the full list of topics can be found following this link). The general areas for this conference have been organised into five main topics:

> Computational Solids and Structural Mechanics

> Computational Fluid Dynamics

> Computational Applied Mathematics

> Scientific Computing

> Industrial Liaison Activity

In addition, sessions will be organised in a range of specialised topics.

Authors wishing to contribute to the conference are invited to submit a one-page abstract by 17 October, 2011. Notification of acceptance will be given by 28 October, 2011.

YIC2012 Chairmen

ECCOMAS YIC2012

The ECCOMAS 2012 Young Investigators Conference is being organised by the University of Aveiro, in Portugal. The organisation of the YIC2012 will be supported by three main committees: the members of the Organising Committee are all young researchers (under 35 years of age), PhDs and PhD students; the members of the Supporting Committee are senior scientists/researchers and will support the Organising Committee in all tasks.
